Rondel Marsh killed after pickup overturns in I-75 Union Twp crash

UNION TOWNSHIP, OH (April 19, 2026) — A 49-year-old Englewood man was killed early Saturday in a rear-end crash on Interstate 75 in Union Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said Rondel Marsh was a passenger in a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 51-year-old Jeanine Marsh when the vehicle was struck from behind by a speeding Dodge Charger operated by a 21-year-old at approximately 2:59 a.m.

The impact forced the pickup off the roadway, where it overturned before coming to rest. Rondel Marsh was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the driver of the Dodge Charger could face charges related to the crash that resulted in the death of Rondel Marsh.

According to the National Safety Council, approximately 10 percent of all fatal crashes involve drivers under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication. Impairment can lead to poor judgment, reduced coordination, delayed reactions, and compromised vision.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and an experienced DUI accident attorney, noted that incidents like this may also warrant a separate civil case.

“Beyond any criminal proceedings, a victim’s family may have the right to pursue compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In addition to law enforcement efforts, an attorney can re-examine key witnesses, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records. Acting as an advocate, legal counsel can help guide families through this difficult time while protecting their rights and ensuring accountability.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Rondel Marsh may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other hardships following a tragic accident.

“We recognize the immense challenges families face after such a loss, and protecting their rights is critical,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the investigation and work to ensure that the family’s best interests are represented. Loved ones may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
