PETALUMA, CA (Apr 02, 2026) – A 10-year-old boy was injured in a hit-and-run crash Thursday afternoon in Petaluma, according to police.
The incident occurred around 4:12 p.m. at Howard and Washington streets near St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School. Authorities said the child was walking in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver fled the scene, but 63-year-old Ron Jones was later identified and arrested. The child was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Leaving the scene of an accident is a criminal offense, and statistics indicate that about 11 percent of all crashes involve a hit-and-run driver.
