Rollover Crash Injures Passenger in Kanawha, Mullins Arrested

KANAWHA, WV (February 14, 2026) — A 21-year-old driver was arrested after a rollover crash on Pennsylvania Avenue left a passenger with serious injuries, West Virginia State Police said.

Troopers identified the driver as Brett Mullins of South Charleston. Authorities said the vehicle overturned and landed on its roof, ejecting a 19-year-old woman from the car. Despite the severity of the crash, the passenger was alert before being transported to an area hospital.

Mullins faces multiple charges, including DUI Causing Injury, and was booked into the South-Central Regional Jail. The West Virginia State Police and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the incident.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This accident was preventable. Impaired drivers pose a serious danger to everyone on the roadway and can devastate lives in an instant.

“Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or kills another person,” explained Candice Bond, a Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Separate from criminal charges, the family of a victim may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Bond, an experienced DUI accident attorney.

According to the National Safety Council, about 10 percent of all fatal automobile accidents involve drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other medications. These incidents are the second-leading cause of automobile fatalities in the United States.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

An injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending the outcome of the investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often pursue a personal injury claim to help cover medical expenses, future medical care, lost income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” he added.
