NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Mississippi man faces vehicular homicide charges following a fatal crash that killed a young driver on Brick Church Pike Wednesday afternoon.
Robert Crawford III, 20, of Old Hickory, was identified as the driver killed in the collision. An 18-year-old Cleveland, Miss., man was driving a Ram 1500 pickup truck northbound at high speed and attempted to pass vehicles in the two-way left-turn lane.
He swerved to avoid another vehicle. Subsequently, he entered oncoming traffic in the southbound lane and lost control. The Ram struck Crawford’s southbound Honda Civic head-on.
A northbound Toyota Camry was also struck during the collision. That driver was not injured.
Crawford was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he succumbed to injuries. Two passengers in the Ram were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
The Mississippi driver was transported to Skyline and released before being booked. He faces charges of vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle, and three counts of aggravated assault.
Police found no signs of impairment at the scene.
