Texas leads the nation in truck crashes with 26,298 tractor-trailer accidents in 2023 and 650 fatal crashes involving large trucks—52% higher than second-place California, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and Texas Department of Transportation.

The state recorded 43,780 commercial motor vehicle accidents involving 128,099 people. Truck accidents in Texas have increased 13% since 2020, with roughly 1 in 1,000 Texas drivers involved in truck accidents annually.
