Richard Harris hurt after Infiniti struck trailer near Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, GA, (May 11, 2026) – A Hoschton man suffered injuries Monday morning in a collision involving a tractor-trailer south of Gainesville, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Authorities identified the injured driver as 69-year-old Richard Harris.

Investigators said the crash occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. when a Kenworth T880 pulling a 48-foot trailer was traveling westbound on Candler Road and attempted to turn left onto State Route 60.

According to GSP, the 42-year-old driver of the semi-truck allegedly failed to yield while entering the roadway, causing Harris’ northbound Infiniti QX60 to collide with the left side of the trailer.

Harris was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not specified by authorities.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured and was cited for failure to yield while entering the roadway. The accident remains under investigation.

SEMI-TRUCK ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED

As authorities continue investigating the collision, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, has emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation in serious semi-truck accident cases. Such investigations can help protect the rights of injured victims and assist attorneys when negotiating with insurance companies.

Bond, an experienced semi-truck accident attorney, noted that a number of factors may contribute to tractor-trailer crashes, including improper maneuvering, lane drifting, tire blowouts, driver fatigue, and mechanical failures. According to the National Safety Council, approximately 150,000 people suffer injuries in large truck accidents each year, while nearly 4,900 fatalities are reported annually.

Bond stressed that truck accident investigations often require extensive resources. Attorneys may examine the crash scene, inspect the commercial vehicle, and review driver records, company logbooks, and maintenance documents in order to preserve key evidence.

“A knowledgeable attorney can help protect injured victims from trucking companies, which frequently dispatch their own investigators to crash scenes and utilize significant resources to defend negligent drivers,” said Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

“An attorney can also retain expert witnesses, conduct background investigations, locate witnesses, and review insurance coverage while helping guide victims through the legal process and protecting their rights and best interests,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Based on the information available at this time, Richard Harris may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim seeking compensation for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.

“A civil claim differs significantly from a criminal proceeding and involves its own separate legal process,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“When injuries are caused by the negligence of another driver or entity, victims may have the right to seek financial recovery for their damages. It is important for injured parties and their families to consult with an experienced attorney for guidance and legal support following a serious collision.”
