Richard Doyle Injured After Being Hit in Fort Edward, Sheriff Says

FORT EDWARD, NY, (September 22, 2026) – Richard Doyle, 74, was seriously injured Tuesday morning after being struck by a Nissan Frontier in Fort Edward, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The pedestrian accident occurred at about 5:59 a.m. in front of the county complex on Broadway.

Doyle suffered injuries to his hip, leg, chest and head. He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for treatment and further evaluation.

The accident remains under investigation.

PEDESTRIAN CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 100,000 pedestrians visit emergency departments each year for non-fatal crash-related injuries.

The CDC reported that pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to be killed in a car accident. Pedestrian crashes can result from distracted driving, speeding, negligent driving and road conditions that prioritize motor vehicles over pedestrians.

Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney, said that in cases such as this, an independent investigation by a seasoned lawyer is imperative to help protect a victim’s rights.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst at Accident Injury News. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those injured receive the monetary compensation they deserve as they recover from an injury.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Richard Doyle may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and concern following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting family, work, finances and overall quality of life.

“Although no amount of money can make up for a devastating injury, it is important that a victim is made aware of their rights and what they are entitled to by law,” Formica added. “The injured victim in this collision may be entitled to an injury claim and may seek recovery for damages including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
