KENLY, NC, (May 21, 2026) – A three-vehicle collision Thursday morning near Kenly left two people hospitalized, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP).
Authorities said the crash occurred around 7:06 a.m. at the intersection of Hinnant-Edgerton Road and Little Road when a Honda Accord attempted to make a left turn and failed to yield the right of way.
Investigators stated that the Honda collided with a black Cadillac Escalade driven by Reyes Salvador Mendoza Valadez, 45, of Princeton. Following the impact, the Escalade overturned and traveled off the right side of the roadway.
Valadez was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders transported him to WakeMed in Raleigh for treatment.
Officials also said debris from the collision struck a GMC pickup truck that had been stopped on the roadway. The driver of the Honda was also taken to the hospital and later cited for failure to yield the right of way.
The crash remains under investigation by the NCSHP.
