BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Prosecutors filed two counts of murder Thursday against a man who authorities say killed two people in separate drunk driving crashes on June 21.
The crashes occurred around 6 p.m. when Reginald Moland Jr. first struck a pedestrian at Baker and Sumner streets. Moland then ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle at Baker and Niles streets.
Officers responded to the hit-and-run crash at Baker and Sumner streets. While heading to that scene, they received reports of a fiery crash involving two vehicles at Baker and Niles streets.
A male pedestrian sustained serious injuries at the first location. He died the following day from his injuries.
Officers found two vehicles engulfed in flames at the second crash site. A male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
