SAN ANTONIO — Authorities are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on May 23 just before 2 p.m. on Southeast Loop 410 near Moursund Boulevard.
San Antonio police reported that two people died when a Chevrolet Silverado struck another vehicle from behind.
Road construction reduced the two-lane eastbound roadway to a single lane, causing traffic to slow. As a vehicle carrying two people adjusted to the lane change, the Silverado crashed into it, pushing it into a grassy area. The impact forced the vehicle into a guardrail before it reentered the main lanes.
Regina Ramirez, 51, suffered fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another occupant of her vehicle, a 54-year-old man, also died. The Silverado overturned onto its side and slid across the roadway.
Officials said the Silverado’s driver, a 22-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
San Antonio police continue reviewing details of the incident.
