HARRIS, TX, (March 26, 2026) – Three people, including an infant, were injured Thursday evening in a crash involving an allegedly impaired driver in Harris County.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Reading Cotton, 36, was driving a Ford SUV on the East Freeway near the San Jacinto River when he failed to maintain his lane and struck a Nissan parked on the left shoulder.
The impact forced the Nissan into a concrete barrier. Three occupants in the Nissan, including a baby and the child’s mother, were taken to a hospital.
Authorities said the infant suffered a skull fracture and brain swelling and faces a lengthy recovery. Cotton was arrested and charged with intoxication assault with a motor vehicle.
