TROY, WI, (April 30, 2026) – A 65-year-old man from New Berlin was tragically killed Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Troy in what authorities say was a distracted driving incident.
According to police, the crash occurred at about 10 a.m. on Highway 20 at Townline Road. The victim, a We Energies employee conducting survey work at the time, was hit by a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Raschad Johnson. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reported that Johnson’s vehicle was allegedly weaving prior to the collision. Following the crash, officers searched the vehicle and discovered a cell phone and a laptop connected to power sources. The laptop appeared to have been in use inside the vehicle.
Johnson has been charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and second-degree recklessly endangering safety. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
