Ramon Sandoval hurt in San Mateo pedestrian crash, police say

SAN MATEO, CA (March 28, 2026) — A 41-year-old man and his two children were injured in a pedestrian crash Saturday evening in San Mateo.

According to police, Ramon Sandoval and his children — an 8-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter — were struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The incident occurred at the intersection of North Delaware Street and State Street while the family was crossing in a marked crosswalk.

Sandoval sustained serious injuries, including broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder. His children were also hurt in the collision.

Incident Location

PEDESTRIAN CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 140,000 pedestrians were treated in emergency departments for non-fatal crash-related injuries in 2022.

The CDC reports that pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than vehicle occupants to be killed in traffic accidents. Such incidents are often linked to distracted driving, speeding, negligent behavior, and roadway conditions that favor vehicles over pedestrians.

Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney, stated that in cases like this, it is essential to have an independent investigation conducted by an experienced attorney to help protect a victim’s rights.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst at Accident Injury News. “Factors such as road conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must all be carefully reviewed. These steps are crucial in helping injured victims recover the compensation they deserve during their recovery.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Ramon Sandoval and his family may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and uncertainty following a serious injury can be overwhelming and impact all aspects of life, including family, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“Although no amount of money can undo a serious injury, it is important that victims understand their legal rights and what they may be entitled to,” Formica said. “The injured victim in this collision may qualify for a personal injury claim and could seek compensation for medical expenses, future care needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
