Quinton Vazquez-Vann dies after being hit in Sherman TX

Sherman, TX, (April 30, 2026) – A 34-year-old man from Oklahoma was killed early Thursday morning in a pedestrian crash in Sherman, according to police.

The Sherman Police Department reported that Quinton Vazquez-Vann of Yukon, Oklahoma, was struck by a vehicle on the southbound side of the U.S. Highway 75 service road near Farm-to-Market Road 902 shortly after 4:30 a.m.

Emergency responders pronounced Vazquez-Vann dead at the scene.

Authorities said no other injuries were reported in the incident. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under active investigation.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Regardless of fault, collisions between vehicles and pedestrians often result in severe consequences for the pedestrian. While all road users must follow safety rules, drivers bear a significant responsibility to remain alert and cautious.

Data from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) shows that in 2023 there were 5,924 pedestrian-involved crashes statewide, resulting in 808 fatalities. From 2019 to 2023, pedestrian deaths in Texas rose by approximately 22 percent.

“Having the right resources is crucial when investigating pedestrian accidents and establishing liability,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

“Factors such as road conditions, visibility, and lighting must be thoroughly reviewed as part of any investigation,” Bond added.

“In some cases, accident reconstruction experts are needed to determine exactly how the crash occurred. These efforts are essential in helping victims’ families pursue compensation for their losses,” said Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is generally the responsibility of drivers to yield to pedestrians,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. The family of Quinton Vazquez-Vann may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“Families of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of income, companionship, funeral expenses, and emotional suffering following a tragic incident,” Bond said.

An attorney can serve as an advocate for the family, offering guidance through the legal process while ensuring their rights are protected.

“Insurance companies may attempt to settle claims quickly for less than their true value,” Bond noted. “An experienced attorney will fight to ensure fair compensation and that the family is treated with dignity and respect.”
