NYSP: Quincy Battle Dies in Rochester Inner Loop Collision

Rochester, NY (June 25, 2026) — An early Thursday morning crash involving a wrong-way motorist in Rochester claimed the lives of two people.

According to New York State Police, a 2024 Honda CR-V traveling westbound on the eastbound side of the Rochester Inner Loop struck an oncoming 2012 Ford Fusion head-on at approximately 1:26 a.m. After the initial collision, the Ford then struck a 2012 Jeep Liberty before coming to a rest.

A 21-year-old passenger riding in the Ford, identified as Quincy Battle, of Rochester, died at the scene.

The 21-year-old driving the Ford was also declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Honda was hospitalized with serious injuries, while the 29-year-old driving the Jeep sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

This remains an active investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

NTSB statistics show that as many as 75 percent of all wrong-way crashes are caused by a driver operating a vehicle while under the influence.

“It’s essential to determine the exact cause of any accident. An attorney has the resources to review applicable insurance coverage, retain expert witnesses, run background checks, and locate witnesses. We carefully guide the victim’s family through every step of the process,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

She noted that in cases such as this, conducting an independent investigation is crucial to help preserve evidence.

“Beyond the official police report, an attorney will thoroughly examine what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney and analyst for Accident Injury News. “A lawyer has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct driver background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can help guide an injury victim through what can be a complicated and stressful process.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the family of Quincy Battle may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this one.

“The grief and stress that follow the loss of a loved one in an accident can be truly overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand exactly what families are forced to go through, and protecting their rights is vital. A wrongful death attorney will stay closely informed on the official investigation and work to ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are fully protected,” added Formica.
