Quamary Richardson killed in County Road 6628 police chase crash

BANKS, AL (April 03, 2026) – Quamary Richardson, 24, was killed in a crash late Friday near Banks following a law enforcement pursuit, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Authorities said a 27-year-old Eufaula man driving a Hyundai Elantra was fleeing a state trooper when the vehicle left County Road 6628 and struck a tree just before midnight. Richardson, the driver, and two 17-year-old passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred about nine miles east of Banks.

FATAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The ALEA said it is investigating the crash. A comprehensive review will be required as crashes linked to police pursuits remain a serious public-safety concern. These incidents can quickly become dangerous and unpredictable, putting passengers, bystanders, and drivers at significant risk even when proper procedures are followed.

Many agencies stress strict pursuit guidelines, enhanced officer training, and alternative enforcement strategies to help reduce fatal outcomes, but the risks remain whenever a suspect attempts to flee.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said that in cases like this it is crucial to have an independent investigation conducted by an experienced lawyer to safeguard the rights of victims’ families.

“It is essential to determine the precise cause of these types of crashes,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “An attorney has the ability to evaluate insurance coverage, consult expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We work closely with families to guide them through the legal process.”

Fatal police chases kill hundreds of people annually in the United States, with more than 3,300 fatalities reported between 2017 and 2022, according to statistics.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending results of the investigation, the family of Quamary Richardson may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim. Families who lose a loved one in such incidents may pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“The stress and grief following the loss of a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “We understand the challenges families face and the importance of protecting their rights. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation and help ensure their legal interests are fully represented.”
