Police held Tarrin Gold in hit-run collision on US 19 in Tarpon Springs

TARPON SPRINGS, FL, (April 29, 2026) – A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist Wednesday evening in Tarpon Springs.

According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, the collision occurred just after 7 p.m. on northbound U.S. 19 near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Authorities said a Hyundai Sonata collided with a motorcycle before the driver fled the scene.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators later located the vehicle with assistance from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was identified as Tarrin Gold, of Oldsmar.

Gold has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, failure to provide information and render aid, and fleeing and eluding. The investigation remains ongoing, with Tarpon Springs Police serving as the lead agency.

HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Leaving the scene of a collision is a criminal offense, and statistics indicate that approximately 11 percent of crashes involve a hit-and-run driver. In many cases, drivers attempt to evade responsibility, but they often face serious charges once identified.

Attorney Candice Bond highlighted the importance of a timely and independent investigation to safeguard a victim’s rights. “Having the necessary resources is critical when investigating a hit-and-run case and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Factors such as road conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must all be carefully assessed. These steps are essential in helping injured victims pursue justice and obtain the financial compensation they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the investigation, a victim may be entitled to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, explained that the impact of a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting a victim’s daily life, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is crucial for victims to retain an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, as legal representation can negotiate directly with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies often attempt to push quick settlements that are far below the true value of a claim. An attorney will advocate strongly to ensure victims are treated fairly and receive the compensation they deserve,” he added.
