Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash, which highlights the ongoing risks faced by pedestrians.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 5,975 traffic crashes involving pedestrians occurred in Texas in 2019, resulting in 669 deaths, a 5% increase compared to the previous year.
