Philip Chon Dies in Studio City Motorcycle Hit-and-Run

STUDIO CITY, CA, (September 22, 2026) – Philip Chon, 46, died after a motorcycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday morning in Studio City.

According to police, Chon was riding a motorcycle at about 7:05 a.m. on Ventura Boulevard at Carpenter Avenue when he was struck by a dark blue 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan.

Police said the minivan was making a left turn onto Carpenter Avenue when it turned in front of Chon’s motorcycle.

The Honda driver did not stop after the collision and continued south on Carpenter Avenue before abandoning the vehicle, investigators said.

Chon was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A $50,000 reward was offered, leading to the identification and prosecution of the suspect.

FATAL HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

It can be challenging to apprehend a hit-and-run driver who flees the scene after an accident.

In addition to the diligent work of police, a seasoned attorney can assist by engaging an investigator to locate witnesses, review security camera footage, and collect additional evidence. Approximately 11 percent of all crashes involve a hit-and-run driver.

Many suspects flee the scene because they are intoxicated, driving without a license, or concerned about being arrested if they remain.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said that in cases like this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney to protect the rights of the victim’s family.

“Having the proper resources is crucial to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, a Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all potential contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping someone who has lost a loved one at the hands of a hit-and-run driver receive the justice and monetary compensation that they deserve.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, family members of Philip Chon may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident.

“We understand that losing a loved one is not only a deeply emotional loss but also an economic one,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel with Bond Legal.

“If you have lost a loved one due to someone else’s negligence, contact a wrongful death attorney and get the guidance needed to obtain the justice you deserve.”
