Pedestrian Woman struck in St. George lot accident, police say

ST. GEORGE, UT, (April 21, 2026) – A pedestrian was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck in a parking lot crash in St. George, according to police.

Authorities said the incident occurred just after 1 p.m. on St. George Boulevard when a Kia Soul was reversing out of a parking space in a local lot.

A woman in her 70s, who was on foot nearby, reportedly struck the vehicle’s window to alert the driver of her presence. Despite the attempt, she was struck and pinned beneath the vehicle.

The victim suffered serious injuries to her legs, hip, and head and was transported to St. George Regional Hospital for treatment.

Police said the driver of the Kia was cited in connection with the incident.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Studies indicate that a significant percentage of parking lot accidents involve pedestrian injuries or fatalities. Limited space, frequent vehicle movement, and distractions all increase risk in these areas.

Parking lots present unique hazards due to tight maneuvering conditions and reduced visibility. Contributing factors may include driver inattention, poor lighting, and design issues within the lot itself. In many cases, property owners also have responsibilities to maintain safe conditions for both drivers and pedestrians.

Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney and Managing Partner with Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of thorough investigation in such cases.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” Bond said.

She further noted that pedestrians are generally afforded the right of way in many situations. “It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian, especially in shared spaces like parking lots.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. Pending the results of the investigation, the injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim. Formica added that the aftermath of a serious injury can be extremely difficult, affecting health, finances, and daily life.

“It is important for victims to retain legal representation when pursuing a personal injury claim so that their attorney can properly handle negotiations with insurance companies,” he said.

“Insurance companies often attempt to resolve claims quickly for less than they are worth. An attorney can ensure victims are treated fairly and receive appropriate compensation.”
