WASHINGTON, OH, (April 17, 2026) – A late-night pedestrian crash in Washington County claimed the life of a 27-year-old Lower Salem man, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said Joseph Harriman was walking north along Ohio 821 shortly before midnight when he was struck near milepost 7 by a northbound 2010 Ford Edge. Harriman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 24-year-old man from Lowell, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Troopers indicated that alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the collision, though additional details were not released.
The identity of the driver has not been disclosed. The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been announced at this time.
