Pedestrian Gina Murphy Dies After Maserati Strikes Her in Texas

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX, (July 05, 2026) – A 50-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a Maserati in Grand Prairie on Saturday morning.

Police said Gina Murphy was struck by the sports car at approximately 6:30 a.m. in the 900 block of South Belt Line Road. Authorities reported that the driver lost control while attempting to navigate a curve, striking Murphy as she was on the roadway. Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under active investigation.

FATAL PEDESTRIAN CRASH INVESTIGATION

Investigators have said that impairment does not currently appear to be a contributing factor in the crash, though distracted driving has not been eliminated as a possible cause.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that distracted driving was responsible for 3,275 deaths in 2023. Distracted driving encompasses any behavior that takes a driver’s focus off the road, such as texting or talking on a phone, eating, drinking, conversing with passengers, adjusting the radio, or using entertainment or navigation systems.

As investigators continue to examine the cause and determine liability, Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a seasoned accident attorney, emphasized the importance of a separate, independent investigation led by an experienced lawyer.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Time is of the essence in cases such as this one, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The relatives of Gina Murphy could be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of those lost in wrongful death cases may pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain, suffering, and emotional distress stemming from a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their best interests are taken care of. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”
