Pedestrian crash in Duncanville kills Yolanda Garth on US 67

DUNCANVILLE, TX (March 29, 2026) – A tragic pedestrian crash Sunday morning in Duncanville claimed the life of 40-year-old Yolanda Lachelle Garth, authorities said.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Garth stopped to assist another motorist following a crash on U.S. 67 near Danieldale Road and Main Street around 7:30 a.m. After exiting her vehicle, she was struck by another car and suffered fatal injuries.

Officials continue to investigate the incident.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Despite being protected by various laws, pedestrians remain among the most vulnerable road users. Each day, pedestrians are seriously injured or killed by drivers who are distracted, impaired, or ignore traffic warnings.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in 2023, 5,924 pedestrian-related crashes occurred statewide, resulting in 808 fatalities. Between 2019 and 2023, pedestrian deaths in Texas rose by approximately 22 percent.

“Having the right resources is critical when investigating pedestrian accident cases and establishing negligence,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“Factors such as road conditions, visibility, and lighting must all be carefully examined,” Bond added.

“In many instances, accident reconstruction teams are used to determine the sequence of events. These tools are essential in helping families pursue compensation after a serious collision,” said Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family of Yolanda Garth may be entitled to a wrongful death claim.

“Surviving family members may seek compensation for loss of income, companionship, emotional distress, and funeral costs,” Formica said.

An attorney can help guide families through the legal process while ensuring their rights are protected during this difficult time.

“Insurance companies often try to settle quickly for far less than the claim is worth,” Formica noted. “Legal representation ensures fair treatment and proper compensation.”
