DUNCANVILLE, TX (March 29, 2026) – A tragic pedestrian crash Sunday morning in Duncanville claimed the life of 40-year-old Yolanda Lachelle Garth, authorities said.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Garth stopped to assist another motorist following a crash on U.S. 67 near Danieldale Road and Main Street around 7:30 a.m. After exiting her vehicle, she was struck by another car and suffered fatal injuries.
Officials continue to investigate the incident.
Despite being protected by various laws, pedestrians remain among the most vulnerable road users. Each day, pedestrians are seriously injured or killed by drivers who are distracted, impaired, or ignore traffic warnings.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in 2023, 5,924 pedestrian-related crashes occurred statewide, resulting in 808 fatalities. Between 2019 and 2023, pedestrian deaths in Texas rose by approximately 22 percent.
