COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, (May 14, 2026) – An 80-year-old man died Thursday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash earlier this month in Colorado Springs, according to police.
Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded on the morning of May 8 to the intersection of Union Boulevard and Parkside Drive following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
Investigators said a vehicle attempting to make a left turn at the intersection collided with a northbound vehicle traveling in the right lane on Union Boulevard.
Authorities identified the victim as Paul Montoya, 80, who was transported to a local hospital following the crash. Police said Montoya succumbed to his injuries six days later.
The other driver involved in the collision was not publicly identified. According to investigators, speed is not believed to have contributed to the accident.
Following Montoya’s death, the Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team joined the ongoing investigation.
