Patrick Rudolph charged in Gwinnett crash leaving rider hurt

GWINNETT, GA, (April 10, 2026) – A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett County.

According to the Duluth Police Department, officers responded to the scene near Longlake Drive shortly after 2:40 a.m., where they found the injured victim. Authorities said the driver involved in the collision fled without stopping to provide aid or report the incident.

Investigators later identified and apprehended 34-year-old Patrick Rudolph after reviewing city camera footage that led them to a nearby apartment complex. Rudolph was taken into custody and charged with hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death. He was subsequently booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.

Police confirmed that the suspect vehicle has been impounded and will undergo forensic examination. The investigation remains ongoing.

HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Leaving the scene of an accident is a criminal offense, and statistics indicate that nearly 11 percent of crashes involve hit-and-run drivers. In many instances, at-fault motorists attempt to evade responsibility by fleeing, but they are often identified and charged.

Attorney Candice Bond stressed the importance of a timely and thorough independent investigation to safeguard victims’ rights. “Access to the right resources is critical in examining a hit-and-run accident and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Factors such as roadway conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must be carefully reviewed. These steps are essential in helping injured victims obtain justice and appropriate financial compensation.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending an investigation, the victim may have grounds to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, noted that the aftermath of an injury can be overwhelming, affecting multiple aspects of life including family, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim, as legal counsel can negotiate effectively with insurance companies,” Formica said.

“Insurance providers frequently attempt to pressure victims into accepting quick settlements that are far below the true value of their claims. An attorney, however, will advocate strongly to ensure fair treatment and proper compensation.”
