Patrick Dowdy killed as truck hits trees in Carroll County on AR 21

CARROLL, AR, (April 18, 2026) – A single-vehicle crash Saturday night in rural Carroll County claimed the life of a 26-year-old Berryville man and left two others injured, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Authorities said Patrick Logan Dowdy was a passenger in a 2018 Ford F150 traveling south on Arkansas 21 near the intersection with Carroll County Road 540. At approximately 10:18 p.m., the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into two trees.

Dowdy suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead following the collision.

A second passenger, identified as Trevor Dean Dowdy, 25, of Siloam Springs, was transported to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Arkansas State Police.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Tragically, approximately 36,000 people lose their lives in motor vehicle accidents each year in the United States.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that speeding was the leading cause of fatal crashes in 2018, followed by impairment from alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane position, failure to yield, and distracted driving.

Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney, explained that crashes like this can happen for many reasons, including driver inexperience, failure to follow traffic laws, reckless behavior, unfamiliar road conditions, or impaired driving.

“Every case is different and requires a detailed investigation. Acting quickly is crucial, and the victim’s family should ensure that evidence is preserved and reviewed promptly,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“In addition to reviewing the official crash report, an attorney will also examine all possible contributing factors,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Patrick Logan Dowdy may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families who lose a loved one in such incidents may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“The emotional and financial toll after a tragic loss can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We recognize the challenges families face during this time, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation and help ensure that the family’s interests are properly represented.”
