Passenger Hurt as Louis Anglade Crosses Line in Monroe Crash

MONROE, NY, (June 29, 2026) – A passenger sustained serious injuries in a head-on crash early Monday morning on State Route 208 in the Town of Monroe.

State Police reported that the unidentified passenger was riding in a Nissan operated by 54-year-old Louis Anglade when the vehicle crossed the solid double yellow line at approximately 12:40 a.m. The Nissan then collided head-on with a Genesis, driven by a 24-year-old man, near the intersection of Orange and Rockland Road.

The injured passenger was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of injuries to the other driver, if any, has not been released.

The crash remains under active investigation by State Police.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to Candice Bond, a seasoned auto accident attorney, human error is the leading cause behind most head-on collisions. Several factors can lead to this type of crash, such as distracted driving, impaired driving, driver fatigue, and inadequate road design. Because of the significant force involved, head-on crashes rank among the most hazardous on the road, resulting in fatalities more than 10 percent of the time. AAA data shows that between 2015 and 2018, head-on collisions on divided highways claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people.

No matter what a police investigation concludes, Bond emphasized the importance of retaining an attorney to conduct a separate, independent review of the crash in order to preserve evidence and safeguard the rights of an injured victim.

“An attorney can gather the necessary evidence to demonstrate that a driver acted recklessly, which often demands significant resources,” said Bond, who serves as Managing Partner at Bond Legal and as a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Beyond the thorough work performed by law enforcement, an attorney is able to re-interview key witnesses, review any available surveillance footage from the crash site, and secure phone and text records of the at-fault party. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can provide compassionate support to an injured victim during such a difficult period, while firmly protecting their legal rights and best interests.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The passenger injured in this crash may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, pointed out that the anxiety and stress that follow a serious injury can be immense, affecting nearly every part of a person’s life — from family and work to finances and overall well-being.

“While no financial settlement can undo the harm caused by a serious injury, it’s essential that victims understand their legal rights and what they may be owed under the law,” Formica said. “The passenger hurt in this collision could be eligible to file an injury claim, potentially seeking compensation for medical costs, ongoing medical treatment, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.”
