SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento police arrested a driver in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian early Monday morning in the North Natomas area.
Officers responded to Del Paso Road and Town Center Drive just before 2 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Police found 41-year-old Parris Windham in the roadway upon arrival. Officers pronounced him dead at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators located the suspect vehicle during their search of the area. Police detained the driver near the crash site following the investigation.
Now, a 25-year-old Sacramento man faces multiple charges related to Windham’s death. Officers arrested him on felony hit-and-run resulting in death charges. He also faces driving under the influence charges.
Police booked the suspect into Sacramento County Main Jail following his arrest.
A fundraiser was established to help Windham’s family with expenses.
The incident remains under investigation by Sacramento police.
