Parma man Nicholas Terriaco dies in Cleveland motorcycle wreck

CLEVELAND, OH, (May 23, 2026) – A 20-year-old Parma man lost his life Saturday following a motorcycle collision on Interstate 480 in Cleveland, according to the Cleveland Division of Police.

Police officers responded to the westbound lanes of Interstate 480 near the Ridge Road exit after reports of a crash involving two motorcycles.

Investigators determined that both motorcycles collided near the exit, causing each rider to lose control and crash.

One of the operators, identified as Nicholas Joseph Terriaco, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second motorcyclist, also a 20-year-old man, later transported himself to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Authorities did not immediately release information regarding the extent of his injuries.

Police noted that both riders were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

MOTORCYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the NHTSA, motorcycle fatalities in the United States reached a record 6,335 in 2023, accounting for 15% of all traffic deaths and marking the deadliest year since 1975. With a fatality rate of 31.39 per 100 million miles traveled, officials continue to stress the importance of roadway safety awareness and motorist education.

“Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users,” said Candice Bond, managing partner of Bond Legal. “Even relatively minor crashes can lead to catastrophic injuries, making caution critical for everyone sharing the road.”

Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, explained that independent investigations are often essential in serious motorcycle crash cases to help protect the rights of victims and their families.

“Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists often cause these types of collisions. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family during this difficult time, protecting their rights while ensuring that a driver is held accountable if they do not obey traffic laws.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of the deceased victim may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members may seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages resulting from a tragic accident.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
