Pamela Galloway killed in crosswalk crash in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA, (March 24, 2026) — A 59-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian accident Tuesday afternoon in Long Beach, police said.

Authorities identified the victim as Pamela Galloway. She was struck at approximately 1 p.m. near Fourth Street and Ximeno Avenue while crossing in a marked crosswalk.

Galloway died at the scene from multiple blunt traumatic injuries, according to officials.

The driver, a 53-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said alcohol and speed were not believed to be factors.

The incident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Walking on U.S. roadways has become increasingly hazardous in recent years, largely due to the rise in larger vehicles such as SUVs and pickup trucks, road designs that prioritize speed, and risky driving behaviors. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), 84 percent of pedestrian fatalities in 2023 occurred in urban areas, compared to 59 percent in 1975.

“In most cases, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing a street or intersection, whether or not it is within a marked crosswalk,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized that an independent investigation by an experienced attorney is essential in cases like this to help protect the rights of the victim’s family.

Time is critical in such incidents, and it is important that evidence is promptly reviewed to ensure the family receives proper support.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is typically the responsibility of drivers to yield to pedestrians,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family of Pamela Galloway may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“Families of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following a tragic accident,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies often attempt to pressure victims into accepting quick settlements that may not reflect the true value of the case,” Formica added. “An attorney will strongly advocate for their client to ensure fair treatment and appropriate compensation.”
