SIOUX CITY, Iowa— A speeding SUV crashed into a utility pole and a house’s front porch, killing two passengers on April 19.
The accident happened at approximately 4:26 a.m. near the intersection of Transit Avenue and S. Cecilia Street. Officials reported that a white 2014 Infiniti QX80 was traveling east on Transit Avenue when the driver lost control. The vehicle hit a curb before slamming into the pole and house.
Authorities identified 40-year-old Osmel Borrego Carlez and 26-year-old Pablo Morales Torres as the passengers inside the SUV. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Emergency responders also transported the driver, who suffered injuries in the accident.
Sioux City Police confirmed an ongoing investigation.
