Clay Township, OH (June 30, 2026) — A 14-year-old girl was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle UTV crash in Clay Township, Tuscarawas County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 1:05 p.m. on Township Road 203. A 2013 Polaris Ranger carrying two 14-year-olds was traveling north when the driver attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve. The UTV veered off the right side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting both occupants.
Kya Barger, of Gnadenhutten, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other juvenile passenger was flown to Akron Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Arrowhead Joint Fire District, Uhrichsville Fire/EMS, and the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the scene.
