Oscar Ramirez struck, injured in Georgetown DUI crash; driver charged

GEORGETOWN, TX, (Nov. 23, 2025) — A 28-year-old man identified as Oscar Ramirez was hospitalized Sunday after a multi-vehicle crash that led to criminal charges against a 20-year-old Austin man, authorities said.

According to investigators, a Ford Escape was traveling south on Kelley Drive at about 2:30 p.m. when it collided with an Oncor Electric Delivery truck working in the area. The force of the impact pushed the truck into another vehicle, resulting in three workers being struck between the trucks.

Ramirez was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver of the Escape, identified as Alezander Cruz, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Williamson County Jail on charges including intoxication assault.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Alcohol-related crashes continue to injure hundreds of thousands of people each year in the U.S., according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Drivers impaired by alcohol often suffer from delayed reaction times, reduced coordination, impaired vision, and poor judgment — all of which increase the risk of catastrophic collisions.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough and independent investigation in cases such as this.

“Separate from the criminal charges, a victim may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “In addition to the work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview witnesses, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records from the liable party. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can guide injured victims through the process while ensuring that impaired drivers are held fully accountable.”

Vehicle crashes injure nearly 1.9 million people annually in the United States. Common contributing factors include alcohol or drug impairment, speeding, distracted driving, failure to yield, and improper lane use.

“Time is of the essence in cases like this,” Bond added. “Accident victims deserve to have evidence evaluated efficiently and thoroughly. An attorney can help safeguard their legal rights and best interests during a very difficult time.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Oscar Ramirez may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim. Such claims can help cover medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, emotional distress, and other financial or physical burdens resulting from the crash.

“Injured victims involved in a collision often pursue a personal injury claim to address the significant expenses they face,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal. “Insurance companies are not always quick to acknowledge the full extent of these costs. An attorney can help ensure that victims receive the compensation they are entitled to. We work every day to hold insurers accountable for the harm caused.”
