ODESSA, TX (May 23, 2026) — A 39-year-old man identified as Oscar Hernandez was killed early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in West Odessa, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities said Hernandez was driving a Volkswagen Polo westbound on 16th Street at approximately 5:10 a.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling north on Tripp Avenue entered the intersection without stopping and struck the passenger side of his vehicle.
The impact forced both vehicles into the southwest corner of the intersection, where they collided with a fence and a utility box.
Hernandez, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old passenger in his vehicle also died at the crash site.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado sustained minor injuries and was transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa for treatment.
Officials said criminal charges remain pending, subject to toxicology results, as the investigation continues into the circumstances of the crash.
