Sheriff: Oscar Garcia dies after chain-reaction accident in Anthony

ANTHONY, TX, (April 11, 2026) – A 55-year-old man was killed following a multi-vehicle crash on April 11 in Anthony, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Oscar Garcia was critically injured after a collision involving multiple vehicles at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Antonio Street and Wildcat Drive. Investigators said a Ford attempting to turn failed to yield the right of way and collided with a Tesla.

The impact caused both vehicles to strike two additional vehicles, resulting in a chain-reaction crash. Garcia was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

Authorities said speeding was a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

FATAL CRASH INVESTIGATION

The Sheriff’s Office will release a full report after completing its investigation into the accident that claimed Mr. Garcia’s life.

In the meantime, Candice Bond noted that crashes like this require an independent investigation by a qualified law firm to help preserve evidence and protect the rights of a grieving family.

“Alongside the work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-examine key witnesses, review any available surveillance footage, and obtain phone and texting records of the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “By serving as an advocate, an attorney can guide a family through this difficult period while helping to safeguard their legal rights and interests.”

Each year, approximately 36,000 people lose their lives and another 1.9 million are injured in motor vehicle crashes across the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was the leading cause of fatal accidents last year, followed by impairment from alcohol, drugs, or medication, failure to maintain proper lanes, failure to yield the right of way, and distracted driving.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Oscar Garcia may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain, suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand the hardships families face after such a loss, and ensuring their rights are protected is crucial,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will remain informed about the official investigation and help protect their best interests. Relatives may pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.”
