Police: Orinthions Brown dies in Dallas Military Pkwy DWI crash

DALLAS, TX (April 05, 2026) – A 42-year-old man was tragically killed after being struck by a suspected drunk driver early Saturday in Dallas.

Police reported that Orinthions Deonte Brown and another man were hit by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Isaac Chacon at approximately 1:59 a.m. at the intersection of Military Parkway and North Jim Miller Road.

Brown died at the scene, while the second victim was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities said Chacon attempted to flee but was apprehended shortly after the crash.

Investigators noted that Chacon showed signs of intoxication and was administered a sobriety test before being taken into custody. He faces two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of collision involving death.

FATAL DWI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, a person dies every nine hours and six minutes in DUI-alcohol-related traffic crashes.

Last year, 963 people in Texas were killed and 2,114 seriously injured due to drunk driving incidents. When a driver is under the influence, their judgment, vision, coordination, and reaction time can be significantly impaired.

Candice Bond, an experienced DUI accident attorney, emphasized the seriousness of such incidents.

“Separate from any criminal charges, a victim’s family may have the right to pursue compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News. “In addition to law enforcement efforts, an attorney can revisit witness statements, review surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can guide families through this difficult time while ensuring accountability for reckless actions.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Orinthions Deonte Brown may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may pursue compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“We understand the hardships families face after such a loss, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will remain informed about the investigation and help safeguard their best interests. Families are entitled to seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after a tragic accident.”
