BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A man was killed Thursday night after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash at a busy New York intersection.
Officers responded to a 911 call just before 10 p.m. reporting a pedestrian struck near E. New York Avenue and Broadway, according to the New York Police Department.
A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad indicated that a gray four-door sedan was traveling west on E. New York Avenue when it struck the man as he crossed the street. The driver fled the scene after the crash, NYPD said.
Nyron Shaw, 36, of Brooklyn, was taken by EMS to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police have not released a description of the suspect or vehicle beyond its make and color.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
