Norma Martinez Lopez dies in Little Rock collision on I-630

LITTLE ROCK, AR, (March 30, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 630 in Little Rock claimed the life of Norma Martinez Lopez, 51, of Lonoke, on Monday morning.

According to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred at approximately 7:58 a.m. when a 2009 Nissan traveling westbound attempted to merge from the third lane into the fourth lane and lost control.

The Nissan struck a 2017 Mitsubishi traveling in the same direction, causing the Mitsubishi to leave the roadway and collide with a concrete barrier. Lopez, a passenger in the Mitsubishi, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was transported to a hospital with injuries, while the Nissan driver was not injured.

TWO-VEHICLE CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The crash remains under investigation by the Arkansas State Police. During the probe, authorities will work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision that claimed the life of Lopez.

Each year, approximately 36,000 people lose their lives and another 1.9 million are injured in motor vehicle crashes across the United States.

While the cause and liability of the crash are still being examined, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney, emphasized that an independent investigation should be conducted as soon as possible to preserve evidence and protect the rights of victims and their families.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, review any surveillance footage from the crash site, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the victim’s family must ensure that all evidence is evaluated promptly.”

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes necessary to help determine exactly what occurred. These resources are critical in helping families pursue compensation for damages or loss following a collision,” added Bond, who serves as a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Norma Martinez Lopez may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

“We recognize that losing a loved one is not only emotionally devastating but can also create financial hardship,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “If a family has lost someone due to another party’s negligence, they should seek guidance from a wrongful death attorney to pursue justice.”

“Families are often overwhelmed by the legal process during such a difficult time. An attorney can provide compassionate support and help ensure that those left behind receive the compensation and justice they deserve.”
