MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident that happened May 13 on South Custer Road. Officials said a Ford Focus crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on.
Authorities identified the injured driver as Norma Hacker, 50. Emergency personnel transported her to Toledo ProMedica Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.
Hacker drove a 2024 Toyota Sienna westbound at 2:48 p.m. when a 2015 Ford Focus traveling east crossed into her lane. The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles.
A 28-year-old male driving the Ford Focus died at the scene. A 25-year-old female passenger in the Toyota was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Officials confirmed all occupants were wearing seat belts. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the accident.
