BERKELEY, WV (April 14, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a suspected DUI crash Tuesday night that left four people injured after a vehicle went off the roadway in Berkeley County.
According to West Virginia State Police, a white Buick Verano traveled off the road and down an embankment in the 3400 block of Back Creek Valley Road at approximately 8 p.m., eventually becoming submerged in water.
Troopers said three occupants were trapped inside the vehicle, while a fourth was ejected. Emergency crews extricated those trapped from the wreckage.
Nicolas Dillard and Gracie Estes were among those seriously injured and were airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital along with the 17-year-old driver. Another occupant was transported to Berkeley Medical Center.
Authorities believe alcohol was a contributing factor. The investigation remains ongoing.
