Nevin Anderson injured in Grant County police chase head-on crash

GRANT, WA, (April 19, 2026) – A Sunday evening police pursuit near Moses Lake ended in a deadly head-on crash that left two people dead and injured a Warden man, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Authorities said a 2003 Toyota Corolla fled the scene of a felony hit-and-run at state Route 17 and Stratford Road around 4:45 p.m. Grant County Sheriff’s deputies initiated a pursuit as the vehicle traveled east on Road 3 Northeast. The chase ended at the intersection with Road U Northeast when the fleeing car crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a service truck.

Nevin J. Anderson, 24, the driver of the truck, was transported to Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said both occupants of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released pending family notification.

In the earlier hit-and-run incident, a 19-year-old Moses Lake woman was also injured and taken to Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Washington State Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the case due to the involvement of sheriff’s deputies in the pursuit. Investigators indicated that drugs or alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Accidents linked to police pursuits remain a serious and ongoing public safety concern. These high-speed incidents can escalate rapidly, creating dangerous conditions for everyone on the road, including uninvolved drivers and pedestrians.

Such crashes often occur at intersections or busy roadways, where motorists have little time to react. Law enforcement agencies have increasingly adopted stricter pursuit policies, enhanced officer training, and alternative strategies to reduce risks, but hazards persist when suspects attempt to flee.

“It is essential to determine the precise cause of these types of crashes. An attorney has the ability to examine insurance coverage, consult expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We help guide victims and their families through every step,” said Candice Bond, managing partner at Bond Legal, as reported by Accident Injury News.

She emphasized that independent investigations play a key role in preserving evidence.

“In addition to reviewing the police report, an attorney will analyze all possible contributing factors,” Bond added. “Legal counsel can engage experts, review driver histories, locate witnesses, and assess insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney supports victims through a complex process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Nevin Anderson may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting a person’s family life, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury claim, as legal representation allows for effective negotiation with insurance companies,” Formica said.

“Insurance providers may attempt to push for a quick settlement that is far below the claim’s true value. An experienced attorney will strongly advocate for the victim to ensure fair treatment and appropriate compensation.”
