Neelyville woman hurt after Butler County rear-end crash

BUTLER, MO, (April 04, 2026) — A 53-year-old woman from Neelyville was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 3:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 67 when a northbound 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt rear-ended a 2008 Ford F-150 that was attempting a left turn.

The Neelyville woman driving the pickup truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 62-year-old Arkansas woman, suffered moderate injuries, while a 1-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Driving too closely behind another vehicle significantly reduces reaction time and increases the likelihood of collisions such as this one. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 90 percent of rear-end crashes are attributed to distracted driving. Common distractions include texting, eating, adjusting the radio, observing roadside incidents, and interacting with passengers.

Data from the NHTSA indicates that approximately 2.2 million people were injured in motor vehicle accidents nationwide in 2023.

According to Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, failure-to-yield crashes are frequently caused by driver error, including impatience, reckless behavior, and distractions.

While investigators continue to determine fault, Bond emphasized the importance of an independent investigation conducted by an experienced attorney.

“As personal injury attorneys, our role is to provide legal guidance and protect those injured in accidents. We help ensure that victims’ statements are not misused by police or insurance companies,” added Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Acting quickly is critical in cases like this, as evidence must be reviewed and preserved without delay.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Based on the outcome of the investigation, the injured victim may have the option to file a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that serious injuries can place significant emotional and financial strain on victims and their families.

“The stress following a serious accident can disrupt every aspect of life, including employment, finances, and personal well-being,” Formica said.

“It is essential for victims to work with an attorney who can handle negotiations with insurance companies on their behalf,” he added.

“Insurance companies are often indifferent to the growing costs faced by victims. An attorney plays a crucial role in protecting their rights and ensuring fair compensation.”
