SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. – A man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly hitting a woman on a moped and leaving the scene on June 30.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened on Missouri 77 at Highway H, southeast of Benton. The suspect vehicle dragged the moped more than a mile from the crash site. Authorities found it on County Road 505.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials did not disclose her identity.
A caller reported the possible location of the truck involved in the crash. The person identified a 2011 GMC Sierra as the suspect vehicle. Detectives responded to Shane Drive and spoke with the truck’s owner. They identified 48-year-old Nathan Householder as the driver during the investigation.
Officers noted Householder’s breath smelled strongly of alcohol during questioning. He displayed slurred speech and had watery, bloodshot eyes. He submitted to field sobriety tests at the scene.
Police subsequently arrested Householder and transported him to Scott County Jail. He faces three felony charges including DWI resulting in death. He also faces charges for aggravated DWI and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
The accident remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
