Nashville hit-run accident kills Kanon Oldham, police say

NASHVILLE, TN, (April 05, 2026) – A Nashville woman was killed early Sunday in a hit-and-run crash just south of downtown, authorities said.

Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Kanon Oldham. The collision occurred around 2 a.m. when a 2011 Lexus 250 struck Oldham and a 31-year-old companion.

The driver briefly stopped before fleeing the scene on foot. Both victims were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

FATAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

In many hit-and-run cases, drivers believe they can escape accountability by leaving the scene. However, suspects often face charges once located.

Leaving the scene is a criminal offense, and data shows that more than one hit-and-run crash happens every minute across the country.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said it is essential to have an independent investigation conducted promptly by a skilled attorney to protect victims’ rights.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all factors that must be reviewed thoroughly,” Bond added.

These efforts are important to help families obtain justice and compensation after a tragic loss.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Kanon Oldham could pursue a wrongful death claim. Families may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

“The stress and sorrow can be overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand what families endure, and protecting their rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the investigation and help safeguard their legal rights and best interests.”
