Motorcyclist Joshua Darr injured in Canton DUI collision

CANTON, GA, (March 25, 2026) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday evening in a crash involving an alleged impaired driver in Canton.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, a 2012 Toyota Camry attempted a left turn from Wooten Drive onto Bells Ferry Road and failed to yield, colliding with a motorcycle at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Joshua Darr, 23, of Woodstock, sustained significant injuries and was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Camry, a 25-year-old man from Baltimore, Maryland, was arrested and faces charges including DUI, serious injury by vehicle, and failure to yield.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This type of accident could have been avoided. Drivers under the influence pose a serious danger to everyone on the road and can cause devastating consequences.

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), approximately 300,000 people are injured each year in the U.S. due to impaired driving. Alcohol or drugs can impair judgment, vision, coordination, and reaction time.

“Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or death,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“In addition to criminal cases, victims and their families may also pursue compensation through civil litigation against the responsible party,” Bond added.

Data from the National Safety Council indicates that about 10 percent of all fatal crashes involve drivers under the influence, making it one of the leading causes of roadway deaths in the United States.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Joshua Darr may have the legal right to pursue a personal injury claim as the investigation moves forward.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, explained, “Victims injured in crashes often file personal injury claims to recover costs related to medical expenses, ongoing care, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often not focused on the full extent of costs faced by victims. An attorney can step in to help protect those affected and ensure accountability,” he added.
