ODESSA, TX – April 10, 2026 – One person was seriously injured and a suspect is now facing multiple criminal charges following a hit-and-run crash in Odessa, Texas, according to the Odessa Police Department.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Traverse was traveling in the 2100 block of Kermit Highway at approximately 5:13 p.m. when it attempted to pass and struck a motorcyclist.
The impact ejected the rider from the motorcycle, causing life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders transported the victim to Medical Center Hospital for urgent treatment.
Police stated the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. Investigators later identified and arrested 29-year-old Richard Ramirez.
Officials allege Ramirez removed the vehicle’s rims in an attempt to avoid identification but later admitted his involvement in the crash. He has been charged with failure to stop and render aid, aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, and tampering with physical evidence.
The investigation remains ongoing.
