EL PASO, TX, (May 24, 2026) – A motorcyclist identified as Fernando Villa lost his life Sunday night following an alleged hit-and-run collision in Far East El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded shortly before 9:45 p.m. to the intersection of Montana Avenue and Buntline Drive after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.
Investigators determined that Villa was riding eastbound on Montana Avenue when a westbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Buntline Drive. Authorities said the driver allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way, causing the collision.
Following the crash, the driver reportedly fled the scene without stopping to render aid or provide information.
Emergency medical personnel treated Villa at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials later identified the victim as 33-year-old Fernando Villa.
Authorities said an 18-year-old male suspect was later located and arrested with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on charges of accident involving death and tampering with evidence.
The sheriff’s office Special Traffic Investigators continue to investigate the deadly crash.
