WILLMAR, MN, (April 22, 2026) – A 33-year-old Hancock man was injured Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle crash at an intersection in Willmar, according to the Willmar Police Department.
Authorities said the incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. at Willmar Avenue SW and 15th Street SW. Michel Fonseca was traveling east on a motorcycle when a northbound 2025 Hyundai Palisade SUV entered the intersection and crossed into his path.
Fonseca attempted to avoid the collision but struck the side of the SUV. Emergency responders transported him by ambulance to CentraCare Rice Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The SUV driver, a 37-year-old Willmar woman, was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with investigators.
Police noted that witness statements indicated the SUV did not stop before entering the intersection. Formal charges were filed as the investigation continues.
