MONROE, NY, (May 23, 2026) – Daryl Baker, 43, of Monroe, was tragically killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle head-on collision in Orange County, according to State Police.
Authorities said Baker was driving a 2025 Subaru northbound on Lakes Road at approximately 7:14 p.m. At the same time, a 2019 Toyota operated by a 61-year-old Monroe man was traveling southbound on the same roadway.
Investigators reported that the Toyota crossed the center line and collided head-on with Baker’s vehicle.
Baker suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown. Officials described his condition as critical.
The collision remains under investigation as authorities work to determine all contributing factors related to the deadly accident.
