DELAWARE, OH, (April 11, 2026) – A tractor-trailer driver was arrested following a deadly nine-vehicle pileup on April 11 in Delaware County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Modou F. Ngom, 50, of Columbus, was driving a 2006 Freightliner northbound on Interstate 71 near the U.S. 36 interchange when he failed to stop for traffic in a construction zone at about 6:30 p.m.
Authorities said the truck struck multiple stopped vehicles, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving nine vehicles. Three occupants of a Chevrolet Silverado—a man, a woman, and a 1-year-old child—were killed.
Ngom was taken into custody at the scene and charged with vehicular homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.
